Frequently Asked Questions

What are digital savings groups (DSGs)?

Digital savings groups (DSGs) are savings groups whose procedures, records, or transactions are digitized in some way, typically through the use of mobile phones. For an overview of DSGs, please refer to our Digital Savings Group (DSG) Glossary: Key Concepts and Terms and Digital Savings Groups (DSGs): Technology Solutions Overview.

The DSG Hub is an online learning and community platform aimed at facilitating thoughtful, safe, and inclusive digitization of savings groups. For more information, please visit our About page.

The DSG Hub is a global destination for anyone who is planning, implementing, developing technology for, or studying DSGs. This includes non-governmental organizations, financial service providers, funders, investors, technology firms, and researchers.

The DSG Hub project is funded by the FAHU Foundation. It was created and managed by Global Communities between September 2021 and March 2024. It is currently managed by CARE. All DSG community members are encouraged to submit content to the hub. The project has an Advisory Board, which ensures that the DSG Hub is of the highest quality and meets the distinct needs of savings group practitioners. To find out more, visit the About page.

The DSG Hub content can be found on two pages: Resources and Blog. Resources are publications curated by the DSG Hub editorial team or submitted by DSG community members (DSG Hub users). They include studies, tools, training, briefs, videos, blog posts, and other publications. On the Blog page, you will find blog posts written specifically for the DSG Hub by our team or DSG Hub users.

Please visit the Propose Content page for more information about submitting work to the DSG Hub.

English is the only language currently supported on the DSG Hub except for Resources which already exist in other languages.
